What is NFC?

NFC, or Near Field Communication, uses contactless transmission of smaller amounts of data. Due to its small chip size (approx. one euro coin) and the fast and smooth transmission of smaller amounts of data between 168 and 2048 bytes, it is very well suited for use in everyday life. The NFC chip does not require a power source for transmission and picks up or transmits transmissions from a short distance without the need for pairing or similar.
The actual transmission then takes place via RFID (radio frequency identification).
Nowadays, many devices such as smartphones, tablets and notebooks have an NFC sensor for fast data exchange. The system has also become established in payment systems for contactless payment of cash purchases etc. Many EC cards from well-known banks therefore already have an NFC chip built into them.

Waswas ist NF? kann ich mit NFC machen?

An infinite number of functions can be used via NFC - there are no limits to creativity. For example, you can use an NFC tag to activate the alarm function on your smartphone, activate or deactivate Wi-Fi networks, as well as many other functions on your smartphone or in vehicles, in the smart home, and so on.
By the way, your identity card also contains an NFC chip that can be used for digital recognition and identification.

How can I set these NFC commands?

Almost all modern smartphones now support NFC. This means you can write your own NFC tags with simple free or paid apps. The NFC tags can be purchased almost everywhere, but look out for common models such as the NFC 213 chip or NFC 216 chip to ensure compatibility.
Of course, you will find a great selection in our shop to create your very own NFC business card. With this you can act very flexibly and pass on any contact information or directly your phone number and much more. Save it under the contacts of your smartphone.

Does my smartphone support NFC?

Android has supported NFC since version 4.0, while the iPhone has had an integrated NFC sensor since the iPhone 6 model. If you are not sure, you can easily search for the on/off switch for NFC transmission in the Android settings or look in the user manual or ask Google for help. However, if you have a newer device, you can be pretty sure that it already has NFC.

How secure is NFC?
Since the NFC transmission only takes place at close range, unintentional use is rather difficult and impossible with careful storage. Unlike Bluetooth and other contactless data transfers, however, direct pairing can take place without consent, so if you want to share more complex content, password protection or similar is recommended. Our digital business card, for example, has such a function to provide effective protection if required.

Special care should be taken with credit and EC cards, NFC cards of this type should always be protected against misuse.
